What is the working principle of the paddle dryer?

1. Dual Heat Transfer Mechanism
A heating medium (such as steam, thermal oil, or hot water) is circulated simultaneously through the equipment jacket and the hollow, wedge-shaped paddles. Heat is transferred to the material from both the shell and the paddle surfaces, significantly increasing the heat transfer area per unit volume.
2. Material Conveying and Surface Renewal
After entering through the inlet, the material is driven by counter-rotating wedge-shaped paddles to move axially toward the outlet in a manner approximating "plug flow." During this process, the material is continuously agitated and turned over, constantly renewing the interface in contact with the heated surfaces to ensure uniform drying.
3. Self-Cleaning and Anti-Fouling
The unique inclined structure of the wedge-shaped paddles creates a relative scrubbing action against the material during rotation. This automatically removes material adhering to the paddle surfaces, preventing wall sticking and coking, and maintaining high heat transfer efficiency over the long term.
4. Exhaust Gas Discharge and Treatment
The drying process takes place within a sealed chamber. Small amounts of water vapor or solvent vapor evaporated from the material are discharged through an exhaust port at the top of the unit. These emissions meet discharge standards after simple condensation treatment, and the total volume of exhaust gas is far lower than that of traditional hot-air drying equipment.
