Key Considerations for Adjusting Starch Hydrocyclone Pressure

I. Basic Operational Guidelines
1. All valves must be either fully open or fully closed; intermediate (half-open) positions are prohibited to prevent abnormal pressure fluctuations.
2. Prioritize single-parameter adjustments; avoid adjusting multiple parameters simultaneously to ensure precise control over pressure changes.
3. Activate hydrocyclones in a diagonal sequence during startup to ensure a uniform and stable pressure distribution across the flow field.
II. Pressure Range Control
1. Maintain operating pressure between 0.3 and 0.8 MPa for standard models; for tuber starch applications, the pressure must not fall below 0.2 MPa.
2. Maintain a stable pressure differential of 0.05 MPa across hydrocyclone stages to prevent excessive pressure in any single stage, which could accelerate wear on the inner walls.
3. After adjustment, ensure there are no sudden spikes or drops in feed, underflow, or overflow pressures, maintaining continuous and stable operation.
III. Operational Coordination and Verification
1. Before adjusting pressure, verify that the feed starch slurry concentration does not exceed 8% to prevent high-concentration material from interfering with pressure regulation.
2. Simultaneously monitor the underflow discharge; it should form an umbrella-like spray with an angle of 10°–20° and a stable concentration of approximately 75%.
3. Monitor starch milk temperature during adjustment to prevent gelatinization caused by excessive heat, which could compromise separation precision.
IV. Emergency Handling of Abnormalities
1. If a hydrocyclone vibrates violently, immediately reduce the pressure, check for blockages, and then gradually restore operating parameters.
2. In the event of abnormal pressure fluctuations, check the feed pipe for air pockets; consider installing an automatic air release valve to eliminate this risk.
3. If significant coarse particles appear in the overflow after adjustment, promptly re-examine pressure settings to avoid disrupting downstream production processes.
