How to Adjust Starch Hydrocyclone Pressure

I. Pre-adjustment Preparation
1. Ensure the feed concentration is stable at or above 4° Bé and that the material has undergone preliminary desanding and filtration to prevent pipeline clogs.
2. Confirm that all valves are either fully open or fully closed (avoiding partially open positions) and have a calibrated pressure gauge ready for real-time monitoring.
II. Step-by-Step Adjustment Procedure
1. Venting: Start the starch pumps for each stage sequentially from back to front; open the discharge valve at the top of the housing to vent excess air, closing it once liquid begins to spray out.
2. Initial Feed Pressure Adjustment: Gradually adjust the feed pump frequency to bring the feed pressure into the standard range of 0.3–0.8 MPa (0.2–0.6 MPa for tuber starches; 0.6–0.8 MPa for MKHC series models).
3. Overflow/Underflow Pressure Balancing: Adjust the underflow nozzle size to keep underflow pressure within a reasonable range while maintaining low overflow pressure to prevent starch loss in the overflow stream.
4. Fine-tuning for Operating Conditions:
High overflow concentration and coarse particle size: Slightly increase feed pressure and adjust feed concentration accordingly.
Low overflow concentration and fine particle size: Appropriately reduce feed pressure or switch to a smaller underflow nozzle.
Excessive underflow spray angle: Increase feed pressure or switch to a smaller underflow nozzle to stabilize underflow concentration at approximately 75%.
III. Post-adjustment Verification
1. Observe the underflow discharge; it should form an umbrella shape with an included angle of 10°–20°, without abnormal "roping" or columnar discharge patterns.
2. Confirm that pressures remain stable without frequent fluctuations and that starch separation purity and yield meet process requirements; the adjustment process is then complete.
