How to clean and maintain a Starch Hydrocyclone?

I. Cleaning Steps
1. Shut down and drain
Close the feed valve to drain any residual starch emulsion from the cyclone and reduce the pressure to 0 MPa.
Remove removable components (such as the grit nozzle and cyclone tube) and mark their positions to avoid incorrect reinstallation.
2. Physical Cleaning
Use a soft-bristled brush to remove any starch buildup on the inner wall. Stubborn deposits can be soaked in a 1-2% hydrochloric acid solution for 4 hours.
High-pressure water flushing (pressure ≤ 0.5 MPa) or ultrasonic cleaning (for heavy pollution conditions) is recommended.
3. Chemical Cleaning
Use a food-grade detergent for a circulating rinse to avoid corrosion of the 316L stainless steel.
After cleaning, rinse thoroughly with deionized water to prevent chemical residue.
II. Maintenance of Key Components
1. Cyclone Tube Inspection
Measure the diameter of the grit nozzle. Replace if worn more than 10%.
Inspect the inner wall for smoothness. Scratches >0.5 mm in depth require repair or replacement. 2. Seal Replacement

Regularly check the elasticity of O-rings and graphite rings. Replace immediately if aging or deformation occurs.
3. Slag Valve Maintenance

Clean the valve seat from impurities to ensure smooth operation and proper function of the pneumatic/electric actuator.

III. Maintenance Cycle and Recording
1. Cleaning Frequency

Minor pollution: Perform a thorough cleaning every three months.

Severe pollution (e.g., sweet potato starch processing): Perform a cleaning every week or two weeks.
2. Operation Monitoring

Record the inlet and outlet pressure differential daily. Shut down the machine for inspection if the pressure differential exceeds the design value by 10-15%.

Monitor for abnormal vibration or noise to promptly identify blockages or wear.
4. Safety and Seasonal Maintenance
1. Safe Operation

After shutting down the machine, disconnect the power supply and display a warning sign. Allow high-temperature equipment to cool to room temperature before operation.

When working at height, check the stability of the platform and use a fall arrester.
2. Seasonal Measures

Drain internal fluids in winter to prevent freezing and cracking. Add insulation to outdoor equipment. During the rainy season, strengthen moisture-proof inspections of electrical components and clean drainage ditches.
