How often should the seals of a Starch Hydrocyclone be replaced?

I. Seal Types and Replacement Cycles
1. Mechanical Seals

The design life is typically 8,000-10,000 hours (approximately 1-1.5 years), but in actual use, this may be shortened to 3-6 months due to high temperatures, high humidity, or corrosive media.

Food-grade 316L stainless steel seals can last up to 1-2 years in starch processing and require regular inspection for wear.
2. O-rings/Gaskets

The typical replacement cycle is 1-2 years. If leaks or loss of elasticity are detected, they should be replaced immediately.
Polyurethane seals may need to be replaced every 3-6 months in high-temperature (>60°C) or high-abrasion conditions.
II. Key Factors Affecting Lifespan
Water Quality and Material Properties: High sand content or acidic slurries can accelerate seal aging.
Operating Pressure: Overpressure (>0.8 MPa) can easily cause seal deformation or rupture. Maintenance Frequency: Check seal surface wear every three months and clean any residual starch promptly.

III. Maintenance Recommendations
1. Regular Inspection: Check seals for leaks monthly and measure seal groove wear quarterly (replace if wear exceeds 20%).
2. Spare Parts Management: It is recommended to stockpile seals of the same model to avoid downtime due to part shortages.
