How often should a starch separator be cleaned?

I. Daily Cleaning (Daily/Weekly)
‌1. Basic Cleaning‌
After daily shutdown, flush the separator's inner walls and filter screen to remove residual starch and prevent fermentation and deterioration.
Weekly, remove the filter screen and rinse with a high-pressure water jet (0.4-0.6 MPa). Stubborn lumps should be removed with a food-grade nylon brush and an alkaline detergent (pH 8.5-9.0).
‌2. Drain Inspection‌
In winter, it is recommended to drain the wastewater every three days and weekly in summer until clear water is discharged.
‌II. Deep Cleaning (Monthly/Quarterly)
‌1. Chemical Disinfection‌
Monthly, soak the separator in a peracetic acid solution (150-200 ppm) for 20 minutes to kill mold, then rinse until the conductivity is <50 μS/cm.
The cyclone should be disassembled and inspected for wear on the cyclone tubes. The wear cycle is typically 6-12 months. 2. System Maintenance
Flush the inner walls and piping of the separation chamber with a high-pressure water jet quarterly, focusing on cleaning blind spots such as the guide vane angle.
3. Annual Comprehensive Inspection
The separator must be completely disassembled annually, core components (such as the drum and nozzle) cleaned, and seals inspected for signs of wear.
4. Special Scenario Adjustments
High-load Production: If the equipment is operating continuously or processing high-viscosity starch, increase cleaning frequency by 50%.
Environmental Factors: In humid areas, enhanced anti-mold treatment is required. It is recommended to reduce the chemical disinfection cycle to once every two weeks.
